Our tradition of offering superior value and service started in 1921 with J.H. “Jack” Ryder selling his first industrial truck to the Grand Trunk Railroad and formally launching the company in 1930.

Headquartered in a 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility, 5 world-class product lines, 8 full-service branch locations, over 250 fully-equipped mobile technicians and a fleet of 1,100 rental trucks, Ryder has become one of the pre-eminent and largest material handling dealers in North America.

As we continue to grow our wide range of services and expand our extensive branch network, Ryder continues to deliver service excellence and products that our customers have enjoyed since 1930.

1919
J.H. "Jack" Ryder sells his first industrial truck to the Grand Trunk Railroad.

1930
J.H. Ryder Machinery Limited opens a small office behind the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto.

1938
J.H. Ryder Machinery Limited opens a branch in Montreal, Quebec, the first of many expansions for the company.

1957
J.H. Ryder Machinery Limited moves to Evans Avenue at Kipling. This is where the head quarters resided for 43 years.

1960's & 70's
J.H. Ryder Machinery Limited expands into full-service branches throughout Ontario and Quebec.

Present
Ryder enters a new era, operating as Ryder Material Handling, part of the Crown Lift Truck organization. This represents an evolution of the decades-long relationship we've had with Crown Equipment and we're proud to leverage the strength of both the Ryder and Crown brands to expand our coverage of the Canadian material handling market.

With a greater access to an expanded product and service portfolio, Ryder Material Handling can help you more profitably operate and manage your business throughout Canada. We operate 11 full-service branches and three satellite locations, while utilizing cutting-edge information technology to manage inventory and the largest service van fleet in the industry.

Ryder represents industry-leading brands that have distinguished themselves for their value, service, reliability and efficiency. Everything we sell is backed by the largest mobile service fleet in the industry and staffed by factory-trained technicians who are equipped with the latest repair and diagnostic tools.

Within the 100,000 square-foot facility, Ryder has one of the best material handling service facilities in North America. Our training professionals bring more than 100 years of combined lift truck industry experience to informative and interactive classes.
